the National Register of Historic Places as an historic building
within the Vieux Carre Historic District, the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum showcases its extensive collection and provides interpretive
educational programs to present and preserve the rich history of
pharmacy and healthcare in Louisiana; past and present.
The museum is the first registered apothecary in the United States.
The Museum also highlights the role of Louis Joseph Dufilho, Jr.
whose work symbolizes the beginning of a system of certifying the
professional competence of pharmacists, and recognizing the vital
significance of that competence for the public health.
Located just a mile from the Morial
Convention Center, the museum's 19th Century courtyard is the
ideal setting for your special event.
